Ian Hill (English) researches rhetoric and technology – the ways people advocate, resist, appropriate, and otherwise argue and debate machines and systems. Current projects include a book on the historical development of weapons rhetoric from the late 18th century through the Unabomber’s bombing campaign and articles about the rhetorical aspects of bar codes and interrogation methods. He teaches courses in the history and theory of rhetoric and public discourse.
