Sylvia Berryman (Philosophy) works on the intersections between ancient Greek natural philosophy and the early sciences. Her recent monograph, The Mechanical Hypothesis in Ancient Greek Natural Philosophy, examines philosophical reception of the mechanics of classical antiquity, and argues for a historically informed understanding of the term ‘mechanical’.
